Holiday Style: No Clumsy Christmas Sweaters for you (Part 3)

Hi! I’ve shown you some awesome holiday/New Years looks for the ladies in Part 1 and Part 2 of this series.  Here’s one for the gents. This looks is a great contrast to the first two looks in that I’ve kept the colour palette dark and very classic whereas their looks are light yet chic and edgy.  This is a modern, dressy look for any holiday function that will allow you to look ultra polished and put-together. Urban Party Crasher #3: Kevin Here’s a breakdown: I love a three piece suit because it’s sophisticated, classy and, for the most part, not typical.  You’ll definitely stand out this is off black, subtle pinstrip suit.  You’ll notice that hte suit is quite fitted through the pant leg as well as through the body of the suit jacket.  These details will make or break a fashion-forward suit. I’ve gone very classic with a white dress shirt.  Feel free to add a pale colour or a subtle striped dress shirt.  Once you have a suit that fits well with a modern cut, the rest is up to your preferences. The shirt is paired with a geometric pattern tie – mosty grey and white.  This complements the ladies outfits without matching them.   Gents, that’s something to think about for sure.  You don’t want to match  (she’s wearing a pink skirt and you’re wearing a pink tie… that’s not stylish) but you can certainly take nods from each other’s outfit. We’ve gone with a lace-up shoe that has a thin, streamlined sole.  If you’re more adventurous, feel free to go for a shoe with more interesting details (buckles, fading in the material, etc).   Photo credits: Hair: House of Tin Salon Makeup: Makeup by Bean Photography: Kelly Rosborough, The Bokehccino Project Model: Kevin Sacucci Styling: Me of course! Holiday Style: No Clumsy Christmas Sweaters for you (Part 2)

In Part 1 of this holiday style series, we took at look at an unconventional holiday look… it is one of my all-time favourite holiday looks I’ve put together. Here, you’re going to see the opposite of the little black dress holiday look.  Yes, this is the alternative to that black dress you’ve been wearing to your office holiday party year after year.  For me, what takes this outfit to a completely different level is the crimped updo we’re featuring here (great work, House of Tin)! Urban Party Crasher #2: Cailin Let’s do a breakdown of this outfit so you can get a better idea of how to do this yourself. First, I picked a dress that is pretty covered-up yet really sexy and sophisicated.  If you want to wear something that is a bit shorter, like this Robert Rodriguez white silk dress, go for it.  Just make sure that you’re keeping things balanced by maintaining a higher neckline.  This is how you ensure that your look is classy not trashy.  Rather than look for a simple dress, this one has two dramatic details- the sequined shoulders and the assymetical collar overlay.  Stunning, if you ask me. This dress speaks for itself but by adding a few bold accessories, you’re adding that layer of “she’s looks effortlessly stylish”! Not bad huh?  I’ve kept the overall look in a lighter colour scheme with bold silver leaf earrings, nude pumps with a studded heel, abd a gold skinny belt.  For a contrast in colour, I’ve added a black oval cocktail ring and a lace overaly clutch. What takes this look from “stylish”  to “high fashion”, is the crimped updo and bold smoky eye. Love it!   Photo credits: Hair: House of Tin Salon Makeup: Makeup by Bean Photography: Kelly Rosborough, The Bokehccino Project Model: Cailin O’Hanley Styling: Me of course! Holiday Style: No Clumsy Christmas Sweaters for you (Part 1)

You’re gearing up for the holiday party season and you are so not looking forward to pulling that old black dress out of the back of your closet.  You know and I know that you’ll do your best to make it work.  “New accessories (a great attempt) and polished shoes (yawn… a bit boring) will make do,” you think to yourself. While I am all for re-loving your tried, tested and true pieces, sometimes a girl wants to mix it up a bit and try something different for yet another festive season. Here are some fun, stylish pieces that work together for the true party-goer. There’s a bit of everything here- different /contrasting colour palettes, mixed textures, bold makeup and soft, iconic hair! Urban Party Crasher #1- Kyla If you really breakdown this outfit, you’ll notice that each piece, including accessories and shoes, can stand front and centre on its own. The vest brings a bit of warm and coziness to this outfit (it IS cold outside).  It’s also a great piece to wear on its own with a pair of dark jeans and a striped t-shirt.  How versatile is that? The sleeveness blouse with the black lace detailing is very dramatic, especially with Kyla’s bold red lip and Marilyn Monroe-esque hair. It would also look great with a pair of tapered cigarette pants (maybe deep cranberry) and a statement heel. This pale pink skirt is perfect with this outfit in that it keeps the outfit in a lighter colour scheme- not at all a basic black holiday dress.  What I love about this skirt, is that I can wear it over thick/sweater tights, with an oversized sweater and knee-high boots and I’ve transformed it into a casual weekend outfit. I love the accessories in that they are neutral enough to be worn with anything while still adding a bit of bling. These shoes are a masterpiece.  Feel free to add to them to almost any outfit!
