Friday Find: A casual fall jacket

Enjoy this Friday Find. If I were a guy, I’d really be into this quilted coat for fall. It’s from Zara What’s so special about this jacket: This navy blue quilted jacket, with brown shoulder panels, looks sophisiticated for an everyday casual fall coat.  By the way, navy and brown look amazing together. It looks sporty while having a dressy feel to it which will make it a versatile piece in your wardrobe. A man of any age could wear this.  It is on trend right now but there are many classic elements to it that would allow men of all ages to look great in it. Though it looks very high end (and there are versions of this jacket with high-end price points), you won’t have to shell out a mortgage payment to acquire this piece.  It comes in at $119.  It will likely last you 3-4 season.  With the proper care, you’ll definitely have it longer. Happy Friday!

Cool, cas (ual) summer looks – for the gents

Last week, I shared some amazing summer looks from recent photoshoot I collaborated on.  Here’s the second half of that shoot… this one is for the gents. If this doesn’t scream summer, I don’t know what does.  The fabrics are light linens and cottons so they are easy to wear during a warm summer day.  The all-over baby blue is easy to wear but I do understand that not all of you are comfortable pulling off this tone on tone look.  Instead, pair a white linen buttondown shirt with these pants.  The floral pattern shirt, shoes and belt brings the perfect pops of colour to complete this look. Yes, there is pattern on pattern going on here.  It’s subtle (the pants) yet very interesting.  This is a great look for a night out.  The dark denim blazer pairs well with these patterns and grounds this outfit a bit, however, the outfit will look great without the blazer as well (the t-shirt has short sleeves).  A shoe that has more of a sneaker feel to it will bring a more casual look to this outfit.  It you want to dress it up, add a casual dress shoe. Let me know if you have a question/comment about these looks. Casual menswear: yes, we’re finally moving into warmer weather!

Here’s a segment I did for Shaw TV’s Press 2 Play… sorry but you’re going to have to start at minute 4:15. I’ll make sure this is fixed for the next one. I often help clients with their professional attire so I decided to switch it up and give my male readers some interesting options for casual wear that are on-point while not being too “out there”! These three outfits are great to take you into warmer temperatures (hopefully, we’ll get there someday soon) and can certainly be taken apart to build other outfits as well. The segment starts at 4:15 into the video so feel free to start there. Outfit #1: Casual weekend day outfit – feel free to shed some of these pieces as it continues warming up! Outfit #2: Casual datenight – that third piece, this patterned sweater, dresses up the outfit.  Swap it for a blazer if that’s more your style Outfit #3: A guys night out – to make this outfit more YOU, go ahead and add a different pocket square and a jean that best fits your body shape If you’re in Edmonton and want to find some of the pieces I featured here, go check out Brothers Clothing.  There’s a reason they’ve been around since 1973. Enjoy! Have a question? Ask it.
