I’m very excited to share one of my fabulous clients with you, today. Sharon was so much fun to work with, and was completely open to my coaching and advice. In the second post in this Client Spotlight series, we shared how we ended up doing an awesome photo shoot with Sharon. Now she has amazing new head shots, like a boss. Sharon can use these in SO many different ways. Here’s what Sharon had to say: What were you most uncertain about ahead of the shoot? I have never had photos of me taken like this before. I’ve done family photos, grad photos, etc. and I felt a bit vain doing this particular shoot. What did you think of your hair and makeup – done by the very talented House of Tin Salon and Makeup by Bean? I loved the whole process. Bean does such a fabulous job – I really felt beautiful. Tin did a great job on my hair. I thought I looked like myself – only better! What did you think of the looks that we pulled together for you (from your own closet + that blouse from Seldom Seen)? Everything that was put together were all looks that I would actually wear on a daily basis, so it was perfect. How did you feel as you were being shot by our professional photographer, Dale McMillan? Initially I felt a bit uncomfortable and embarrassed – what was I doing there? I’m not young and model-like! Dale made me feel less awkward and is a miracle worker. I’m not particularly photogenic and the pictures are fantastic. For your Like a Boss photo shoot, you’ll recall that there was a bit of prep ahead of time. Was this useful? Very useful – there were no surprises at the photo shoot and no time wasted. It was professional and fun. Why do you feel that people should take the time to have professional head shots photos taken – with professional hair, makeup and styling? Professional head shots showcase the best you and are a great confidence booster! When are you getting your Like a Boss head shots done?
Client Spotlight: Sharon G. (Part 2)
If you’re just getting up to speed here, make sure you check out our first Client Spotlight post on Sharon – one of our fabulous clients. Here we go… Sharon, along with all of our other clients, was invited to our first client appreciation event – Step into Spring. Here’s a few pics from the event. Step into Spring – in Cory Christopher’s design studio. I had ridiculous swag for my guests from: Gravity Pope, Floc Boutique, Shades of Grey, Miss Boss, Simons, Jacek Chocolate Couture, Seldom Seen, Kevin Murphy, Tarte Cosmetics, Jaisel, Wet n Wild, Threadhill. What guest saw when they entered the event. Some fabulous guests and good friends- Kim Wynn & Janis Galloway. The master himself, Cory Christopher. Rachel Mah – sassy beauty educator with Tarte Cosmetics. William Sundance– yoga and meditation educator with Sattva School of Yoga Kiana from Glow Juicery. Let’s hear from Sharon: So Sharon, you came to Step into Spring and ended up winning a giveaway package for Like a Boss headshots. When you won, what were your thoughts about having new professional headshots taken? I had never had this type of photo experience before – I was looking forward to it. What photo(s) had you been using for your professional headshot? None really. The photo you saw before (in the first post) is what I had to share with Lazina when we started working together. That’s it. The package included professional hair, makeup, photography, styling (by moi) + 1 item from Seldom Seen. Like a boss – for sure. What was the one item you chose from the Seldom Seen website for the photoshoot? Why? I chose a lovely navy Hawaiian-type shirt with pineapples on it. It is a fun piece that is dressy enough to wear with a suit and can also be worn casually. The fabric is wonderful. Poplin Pineapple Shirt (Chianti & Parker) What were you most looking forward to with the photoshoot? I was excited to see how this would all comes together. I was excited and a bit nervous too. Stay tuned for our final post with Sharon. We’ll give you all the deets on the Like a Boss photo shoot. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak at Sharon in the Chianti & Parker Pineapple shirt from Seldom Seen.
Client Spotlight: Sharon G. (Part 1)
I’m so excited for this. We’re doing another Client Spotlight, where we feature one of our amazing clients. This time, we want you to know about Sharon. She’s amazing. She has a strong sense of style – and many amazing pieces in her wardrobe – but admitted to us that she could use some help: sifting through everything to see what garments are keepers understanding what works best for her body type getting rid of pieces that just don’t work for her We did just that. Sharon was pleased with the result of the work we did together. Here’s what she has to share with you. Why did you originally reach out and contact L Squared Style? What were you hoping to achieve? I contacted L Squared Style because I had so many clothes and was overwhelmed with trying to put together outfits to wear every day. I wanted to pare down my wardrobe to the items that looked the best on me as well as mix and match to the best advantage. What was the style coaching experience like for you? The coaching was an excellent experience. I hauled everything out of my closets and was prepared to part with anything and everything. I loved that outfits were put together (some of them surprising and in combinations I hadn’t thought of) and was encouraged to part with things that didn’t look great. These are some of the outfits that were put together for Sharon from her wardrobe. Nothing new was purchased to pull these looks together. What have you told others about your experience? What have they said? People are surprised that I used a stylist as I am a bit of a shopaholic and (as I said) had lots of clothes. I have recommended this service to several of my friends – it is almost impossible to get an unbiased opinion of what suits one’s figure and style and Lazina does an excellent job of pointing out one’s best features and how to accentuate them. Why do you think people should have a style and personal branding consultant in their coaching corner? I think many people have a mental image of themselves from a time when they may have been younger or thinner or a combination of both. Often times, we also choose clothes that look great on models but not so much on us. A style coach can reframe how we look at ourselves and encourage us to put our best image forward. It can also save money in the long run because if you buy something you like but it doesn’t look good or fit properly, you’re not going to wear it. Of all the lessons that were shared with you during your time with L Squared Style, what are the top 3 things that you’ve fully incorporated into your personal style? I am wearing colour! Colours that suited me when I was younger no longer look the best. I am mixing prints and patterns and am a bit more creative in
